Loregasm!: Rhonin, Vereesa, and Krasus

This week in Loregasm! we'll continue with the storyline from Day of the Dragon and discuss Rhonin, Vereesa Windrunner, and Krasus (aka Korialstrasz).

Rhonin and Vereesa

Rhonin began his magical career as a mage for the Kirin Tor, but during an early expedition his comrades got in the way of one of his spells. All were lost, and Rhonin was ostracized by the wizards for a long time, labelled as young and reckless.

He was approached by a mage named Krasus (Korialstrasz in disguise), who asked him to go to Khaz Modan on a seemingly suicidal mission to rescue Alexstrasza. Rhonin viewed this as an opportunity of atonement, and accepted. He was escorted by the ranger Vereesa Windrunner, as well as by a gryphon-riding dwarf named Falstad.

Vereesa Windrunner was an elven ranger who fought against the Horde in Quel'Thalas. Her oldest sister, Alleria, was a hero of the Second War who disappeared on Draenor. Sylvanas Windrunner, banshee leader of the Forsaken, is also her older sister.

Vereesa was annoyed to have to escort Rhonin, prefering a job worthy of a ranger instead, and when the pair arrived at the docks from which he would set sail, there was no boat. Rhonin enlisted the help of a gyphon rider to get to Khaz Modan, and despite the fact that her duty ended at the ports, Vereesa chose to accompany him across. The pair were separated for a while, but Vereesa tracked him until she found him, growing fond of him as the trip went on, but completely unaware of the true nature of this journey, which Rhonin had told her was merely for observation.

The pair eventually fell in love, and Vereesa gave birth to twin boys - a mix of human and elf.

While they were preparing for the arrival of the babies, Krasus appeared once more seeking Rhonin's aid, and the two mages went back in time through a rift Nozdormu had asked Krasus to investigate. There they met and befriended several famous individuals, such as Illidan and Malfurion, and even came into contact with Cenarius and Malorne.

Rhonin attempted to become a mentor to Illidan, hoping to curb his reckless tendencies, but Illidan ended up defecting from the Moonguard (a night elf organization that fought against the Burning Legion). Rhonin took over the Moonguard, and, because of his bravery and hard work, the dragon aspect Nozdormu returned him to his own time right at the moment Vereesa gave birth to the twins.

Later on, Vereesa's cousin, a blood elf named Zendarin, unsuccessfully attempted to kidnap the twins, thinking the combination of elf and human to have caused them to be powerful in magic. Vereesa later tried to kill him in revenge, but she and her party were captured, and Zendarin met his end in another fashion.

Rhonin and Vereesa can now be found in Dalaran's Violet Citadel. Rhonin is now the leader of the Kirin Tor, while Vereesa is the head of a militant organization called the Silver Covenant, whose mission is to keep the blood elves out of the Kirin Tor. The location of their twin sons is unknown.

Krasus

Krasus, or in his dragon form, Korialstrasz, was one of Alexstrasza's most devoted consorts, and enjoyed being the object of the dragonqueen's utmost affection. He disguised himself as a high elf mage and was one of the Six ruling mages of the Kirin Tor. When Alexstrasza was captured, and the mages had given up hope, Krasus enlisted the aid of Rhonin to free her.

While Rhonin and Vereesa were trying to get to Grim Batol and destroy the Demon Soul, Krasus appealed to the other dragon aspects for help in rescuing his queen after discovering Deathwing's involvement in the matter. He was weakened by the Demon Soul and its wielder, an orc named Nekros Skullcrusher, but after being healed by the other aspects, he joined them in the battle against Deathwing. The battle was harsh, but the aspects gained their former powers back as Rhonin destroyed the Demon Soul, and Deathwing fled.

Korialstrasz freed his queen, and the two gathered up the eggs that the orcs had not corrupted or killed, and flew off together. They can now be found in Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight (in their mortal forms), as well as at the Wrathgate (as dragons).

Awesome info! Very good for people considering getting into the lore!

I always had though Vereesa was a night elf! *confused* I should go read DotD again...

I flipped through the book super fast, and the only reference I saw was the word "elven." But I'd wager she is a high elf since there was a big fuss a while back about her sister's model (Sylvanas) incorrectly being a night elf.
